    Special Delivery

Special Delivery from Leese Ronald is a fun and entertaining story as we meet Poppy, who is very pregnant, and very single, who has arrived back in her home town for the support of her family. Giving birth was such a far cry from her job, where she was the indispensable manager who solved all problems.

However, she is happy to be back at the local hospital, even though the Uber eat option after the birth will be limited. It is the throw away lines like this that have the reader smiling throughout the story.

Poppy’s Mum is an avid shopper and is keen to alert her daughter to the current bargains in the stores and the latest available men… Poppy’s reply,” Mum, I’m 37 weeks pregnant. I am looking for breast pads and nipple gel” …..not looking for a man.

It is only when Poppy reveals to the nurse that she has had this nasty backache for a while that things begin to move, and labour is confirmed. When her midwife comes into the room, she realises that it is the man she had a fight with in the car park; th9e last person she would ever want to see at this time.

The story continues with Poppy learning about Motherhood, her new community, her friendships and the father of her child, who rings to enquire not about the birth or baby, but about office business. With the same humour and honesty Leesa moves the story along and we share Poppy’s journey. This is a fun holiday read.

  • My welcome book

    My welcome book

Following on from the very well received My Grateful Book, Diana Smith and Sarah Jane Marchant have once again teamed up to bring the delightful My Welcome Book to young readers and adults, with the lovely message embedded throughout the text that no matter what, YOU are always good enough.

The book commences with the joyous occasion of the birth of a child with ‘Welcome to our beautiful earth’ as the introductory line, which leads on, with the help of wonderfully bright, elegant and appealing illustrations, to begin the child’s journey and the wonderful gifts that make them so very special and unique.

A beautiful soul, your Spirit, kindness and the wonders to be discovered with your mind, amongst many other gifts all go to make you so very special.

Diana Smith also includes the aspects of a multi-cultural society, learning to always think BIG, not small and most importantly of all, to always celebrate your birthday every year as it is the road marker of your journey. She also offers the very sage advice that you always grow and learn from your mistakes, a salient little point we all need to remember.

Once again, a lovely book on several levels and one that will bring much enjoyment to little ones and not so little ones, as they join with baby to grow into big, strong person who shows kindness and tolerance to others.

  • That Christmas Feeling

    That Christmas Feeling

Lilli Wilkinson has written a lovely story about Christmas with a little bit of a difference, which has been illustrated in a happy, comfortable Christmas style by  Amanda Francey, which wraps around a beguiling family story, perfect for this special time of the year.

Dottie, Gem and Shortbread are spending some time at Grandma and Grandpas’ house and it is Christmas time. But somehow things are not the same. They sort out the boxes of Christmas decoration, decorate the tree, and can’t make a plum pudding because Grandma and Grandpa can’t eat nuts and fruit, and somehow a fruit salad pudding is not the same thing at all. It is all getting a little bit worrying.

What if Mum and Dad don’t get back in time for Christmas they wonder? Last year they decorated the tree with lots of different things, all helped to make the plum pudding and Dad lifted Dottie right to the top of the tree so she could put the Star at the top.

But somehow that same fizzy, tingling feeling was not there, no matter how hard they tried.  Jem decided to put a note on the window to make sure Santa could find him, and instead of singing carols at the park, because grandma and Grandpa could not drive, they watched them on television instead. They had a toasted cheese sandwiches and went to bed.

Gem has a wonderful idea to go outside and sing carols in the garden under the twinkling stars in the night sky and just when that tingly feeling was starting to arrive just a little bit, something very special happened.

That Christmas Feeling is a gentle tale, perfect for enjoying with little ones who desperately need some quiet time after the excitement of Christmas Day.
