    Sleepy Fairies – Single

Sonya Haramis is a Spiritual Storyteller and Musician and when she releases a new album or single there is always a defining element of spirituality within the construction of the song.

Her latest single Sleepy Fairies captures the mystique of these delightfully ethereal creatures as they settle for the night, their day’s work complete within the spirit world.

It is also the perfect song to allow a short time of relaxation in the world we live in and as one knows full well, entice one into the realm of the fairies, the garden, which brings with it beauty, enjoyment and renewal.

As chaos seems to be so prevalent in the word of today, it is delightful to have a catchy and most pleasurable few moments in time in the realms of the fairies, as they weave their night time magic ushering the discerning listener into a deliciously relaxing lullaby before sleep.

Sleepy Fairies is a must have on the playlist and is one song which will be returned to time and time again as it is  gentle, uncomplicated and delightfully enjoyable.

  • Bella

    Bella

Gentle and soothing this latest release from Rick Sparks portrays in delicate tones the emotions and pure beauty of the child, known as Bella at prayer on the cover of the album painted by 19th century artist Roberto Ferruzzi. Who she was is lost deep in history but the purity of her intent is timeless, as is the music that forms Bella.

Melodic and immensely peaceful the title song Bella introduces forty minutes of peace and tranquility with the gentle beauty of ‘vocals’ softly portraying an angelic ambience. The haunting beauty of the flute ushering in the lullaby Twilight Dreams, a rich and immensely soothing piece, perfect for allowing the mind and emotions to drift into timeless space.

Autumn Rain floats across the keyboard with a delicate precision that is also gentle, unobtrusive but carries the delicate emotion of peaceful rest, once again overlaid with the sound of angelic vocals.

Completely different, but still carrying that sense of slumber is the almost medieval sound of Highland Dreams, Pan flute leads in the piece, vocals once again filling in the background before the gentle wash of a more panoramic sound leads in the piano. Enchanting.

Two pieces that compliment are Going Home and the Last Goodbye, both written to offer solace to those who have sadly had to say the last goodbye. Gentle, introspective, then light and floating the melody portrays the souls journey as it travels safely to another home.

Completing a beautiful work is the tribute to Bella, Her Prayer, with the purity of a child’s prayer captured in delicate melody which brings to memory the words of the traditional and beloved of many child’s prayer, ‘And now I lay me down to sleep’.

Words do not do justice to this softly emotional and gentle work which is absolutely perfect to simply take time out to listen, refresh, relax and replenish.

  • All Through the Night

    All Through the Night

All Through The Night, from pianist and composer Pam Asberry transforms many long-time favourite lullabies by adding nothing more than pure magic to each piece. The entire collection showcases her immense ability to transform well-loved pieces with a freshness which completely captivates, and has never been more ably demonstrated.

The much loved and often sung children’s song Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star has been delicately turned into a delightful lullaby that captivates and enchants, setting the standard for the entire collection. Brahms’ Lullaby an evergreen and all-time favourite, is transported into the realms of enchantment with the gentle, delicate emotion of the notes played with great care.

Well known American song All The Pretty Little Horses is a more measured, structured piece which holds magic within, creating a completely different and yet gentle emotion to encourage drifting off to the land of slumber.

Sleepy Tide simply put is elegant, gentle and relaxing. Listening to this piece is to let all the worries of the day float away on the music. As the day draws to a close the slightly weightier composition Evening Prayer reminds that thanks should be given for the gifts of the day and for the days still to come.

Dainty and heartfelt Lullaby for Mackenzie written in tribute to her daughter Mackenzie Colleen Geyer (4-10 May 1994) makes a perfect addition to this completely charming collection of peaceful melodies. Reverie is the absolutely right choice as concluding piece as it meaning states, ‘being (in) a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream’. Exactly!

As each of the twelve pieces unfold, many of them time old classics, it is well worth consideration that when so many of the songs were originally composed, the sentiment behind the creation was pure love for the small infant or child, of a beloved friend or family member.

With the purity of her playing, Asberry has captured this sentiment to perfection, allowing the delicate, pure and ambient emotion to emerge in order to calm and sooth the soul. She has also produced a Songbook to compliment the recording and to encourage pianists of all levels to add their own personal touches to this timeless music.

  • Sacred Lullabies

    Sacred Lullabies

Simply magical, this gloriously delicate, deeply spiritual collection of Sacred Lullabies from Camille Nelson demonstrates the depth of her amazing talent. Created with the sole intent of offering to those who choose to listen, the same sense of peace and oneness woven around her by her mother, as she sung these beautiful pieces to her children, she has succeeded in every respect.

While the work is diverse, it holds the same thread through all the many tracks, that of peace, worship, thankfulness and joy, coming together through voices and instruments in such a way that the more the work is enjoyed the more the layers within the layers are revealed.

Commencing with the well-loved I Am A Child Of Jesus she has woven pure magic by transposing this to violin and guitar, adding a rich element to a beautiful piece written by Naomi Randall in 1957 with Mildred Tanner adding the music.

The voices of Kimberley Knighton and Britney Holman add a country feel to the contemporary hymn Trying To Be Like Jesus written by American Gospel singer Andraé Edward Crouch (July 1, 1942 – January 8, 2015), a piece which will hold wide appeal.

Guitar is the solo instrument used with craftmanship in Redeemer of Israel a lovely, gentle piece with almost a haunting, lonesome quality. A Childs Prayer a little further on once again holds a reflective element with solo guitar once again with a distinct traditional bluegrass style.

Stephanie Madsen beautiful voice blends seamlessly with guitar on Not For A Moment, offering a mellow folk sound to this contemporary gospel piece written by Meredith Andrews in 2012.

Camille Nelson’s brother John joins her on violin on New World, once again a hauntingly beautiful rendition of a hymn based loosely on Dvorak’s New World Symphony adding a perfect classical touch to an absolutely delightful album.

Pie Jesu, a piece covered by many over its lifetime has been lifted to a completely new level of beauty with the angelic, make no mistake, voice of Catherine Bohman (Nelson) once again a member of this talented group of six.

The final piece Where Can I Turn To For Peace is a slightly melancholy, deeply reflective piece, asking the time old question of who and where do you go or look towards, when life simply gets too much, drawing to a conclusion an absolutely joyful album, packed full of richness, which also pays tribute to family, to God and to the spirituality that lies within everyone.
