    Moonlight Romance

Each of the track titles from Moonlight Romance from Italian composer Lorenzo Bracaloni make up the most delightful piece of poetry, around which he has crafted a special moment in time; a time when two lovers meet and spend an enchanted night on the shores of a lake.

The lake is washed in romance, a pendulous moon casting gentle light, a soft breeze wafting over the dark waters to create a night of secrets and treasures, with whispered words of love, as delicate as the first rays of light, spoken with a gentle tenderness from ‘mouths golden with flowers’.

Beautiful and gentle as the words of the poem, the music wraps around the emotions, beckoning a return to a time of romance, to a special time with a treasured loved one; to create memories that will last forever in the deep recesses of the heart and mind.

Using a combination of piano, electric piano, organ, synth, acoustic and electric guitars, voice as well as field recordings, Moonlight Romance is Bracaloni stripped bare in his musical creativity, as he is noted for his busy works using a vast array of instruments and technique’s to create a certain illusion.

With this work he has kept it simple, gentle and in doing so, has created a beautiful piece of work which allows the emotions of flow from within the music.  Each of the lines below are the titles for the tracks and as with the music that accompanies the words, they are best left to the dreamers, lovers and romantics of this world to enjoy in a quiet moment, when relaxation and romance, even just a little, is required.

Both sensuous and romantic, Lorenzo Bracaloni aka Fallen has certainly captured the Italian flair for romance with this delightful album.

“Dreaming of fireflies and unchartered lands

This gentle breeze on the skin

     Golden flowers in your mouth

     When clouds sing their lullabies

Under a glass moon of wonder

     Forgotten poetry in our hands

     Unspoken secrets, midnight treasures

Beyond Blue Horizons; Moonlight Romance” Lorenzo Bracaloni 2022

    Evensong: Canticles for the Earth

Imagine if you will, an island in the middle of lake; a house high on the hill, overseeing the perfection that is mother nature and the earth, offering daily, beauty to please the eye, sooth the soul and cheer the heart. The setting sun, the long drawn out shadows of the night, the soft rising of the dawn and the ever present changing of the seasons, each season bringing something new, splendid and to be enjoyed. Seasons beginning and ending as the world turns. Such is Meg Bowles little piece of paradise: a place where she blends alchemy of sound created on synthesiser.

A leader in the ambient music field for several decades Meg Bowles draws on the beauty of walking around the lake in the evenings, a stranger walking steadily over the hill to slowly disappear from sight, the wind creating waves which lap gently on the shores of the lake and the water birds moving on to settle safely for the night, to create the delicate balance required when creating the ancient form of thanksgiving in music, Canticles.

She also has a deep and abiding sense of gratitude for the gifts of Mother Earth, the gift of beauty ever present and the solitude and healing that can be found simply by stepping out into nature, enjoying the perfection and magnificence to be discovered.

Evensong; Canticles for the Earth is not an album to be dissected into various tracks, as each one smoothly blends into the next to create a soundscape of spirituality similar to a chant, or what could be considered as a hymn sung by many at evening prayers, a practice thousands of years old and used to give thanks at the end of the day.

In her work as a psychoanalyst, she specialising the fields of dreams, trauma and creativity, which often finds her posing the question, ‘How do we want to express our creativity in the World?  Her answer is that both music and philosophy blend together to create a holistic view of reconnection, of meaning. This is what she offers in her healing, reflective music.

As always her music holds something deep, rich and almost mesmerising, allowing the mind to settle and relax, to become centred once again, offering freshness so very often sought in today’s frequently troubled world.

    Swan Lake

Swan Lake, the beautiful story of a princess transformed into a swan, has been danced worldwide and was the creation of Russian composer Pyotr IlyichTchaikovsky for the Bolshoi Ballet, first premiering at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in 1877.

Well known, the story of the beautiful princess Odette, transformed onto a swan by an evil sorcerer, is the combination of two Russian folk tales telling the story of good and evil, tragedy, loss and deception, retribution and betrayal.

Beloved of dancer’s word wide, Anna Spudvilas has transformed the story of Swan Lake thought the medium of illustration to introduce this beloved story to a completely new audience, with her beautiful images of the traditional tale. Set out as if this was at the theatre, Act I introduces the storyline where Odette meets the handsome Prince; they fall in love, declaring their love to each other for eternity.

Act II commences at the ball where Odette in her human form is to arrive after the stroke of midnight; But the evil sorcerer has bought along his daughter, disguised as the Swan Queen who has loved the Prince always. They dance and all things begin to change, as he mistakenly announces that she will be the one he will marry.

Once the Prince realises his terrible mistake he rushes into the night, but the sorcerer creates a huge storm. He and the Prince fight down at the lake where Odette and the Prince met and fell in love. The Prince eventually wins the fight, throwing the sorcerer into the lake.

The Prince finds the Swan Queen in despair but the promise cannot be undone.  Act III ends with Odette and the Prince realising they cannot live without each other and they allow the waters of the lake to enfold them, so they can remain together forever.

Anna Spudvalis has drawn her inspiration for the background to the work from the banks of the Murray –Darling where she lives, and has transposed this timeless and tragically beautiful story into ballet on paper.

Swan Lake is enchanting book which will bring joy to the heart of anyone who enjoys ballet, the story of Swan Lake and the simple pleasure of a beautiful story well illustrated and designed.

The work is not just for children, as adults reading and explaining the storyline to little ones, will find a depth to the illustrations which will touch the soul, presenting the very heart of all good Russian folk stories, and indeed of life itself, that of love and tragedy, there for all to behold!
