    Goddess of Edges

To create her music Margaret Maria believes she has to go into a space and place where she is alone, friendless, almost between worlds; a subliminal place where the music flows, note by note until it forms into a cohesive shape; rich, challenging, soothing and divine.

Goddess of Edges, her latest release encompasses all of these elements within the first track Heart on a Platter, an edgy, sharp, intrusive piece which in some ways is full of edginess, before it mellows, then returns to a full and staccato finale.

Rich in emotion Loves Loving Love, is soft, delicate and full of contrast. This glorious enveloping piece is a rather luxurious song, which simply drifts as it unfolds with dreamy languor which is interrupted by She Burns, a fast paced, deep, almost confrontational piece that is definite, forceful and rather fascinating.

Softening the mood once again is the delightfully intriguing Goddess of Edges, the pure notes of the cello reaching out, enticing, layered, gentle and yet robust, allowing the cello to sing á siren song.

In life, how many time have we been tempted to dance close to the edge, to hold hands out to the flames, to try and see what will happen if we only dared.  Dancing Off the Edge captures this tumultuous place we all have with delightful aplomb; fast, abstract and grating at times, the mood then slows to mellow, before increasing in tempo one again as the bow dances towards the edges of what can be achieved, before returning to the safety of music well understood.

Deep, moody, almost despairing pieces are Shame on an Angel and Dying Angels Lament both of which stretch the boundaries of imagination and can be translated however you choose; The tragedy of the world in which we live, the suffering endured by the Divine as they in their gentle way try to lead civilization to a better, safer place. Both pieces fractured, demanding and slowly moving into a place of acceptance.

The final song in this rich and varied work is the lovely She Wishes which soothes the soul, gentles the mind and relaxes the Spirit as once again Margret Maria has challenged the boundaries, faced the edges of reality, encompassed love, sadness and pain to allow these emotions to flow, to emerge once again refreshed and at peace.

Goddess of Edges describes Margaret Maria’s music to perfection; she redefines neo classical music, pushing the boundaries, allowing her cello to reach the very edges of classical music notation with style, grace and pizazz.

  • Seven Ages of the Goddess

    Seven Ages of the Goddess

Goddess have been around since ancient times, have their own place in the history of so many cultures, all of whom are surrounded in mystery and mysticism, are known by many different names such as Gaia, Ishtar, Lilith, Mary, Kali, depending on the culture or cult with which they are associated.

Divided into seven sections Seven Ages Of The Goddess, is made up of a collection of authors who contribute to the understanding of this very old subject matter, offering a modern perspective which further explores who are the Female Divines, which in today’s world of re-establishing the traditional male, female roles of society, makes very interesting reading.

Drawing subject matter from Ancient Goddess, Christian goddess, as well as those hidden in folkloric, they offer a more modern understanding of traditional thought as well as giving consideration to what could be considered as tomorrow’s Goddess.

Each section is such that it can be read as a standalone section or piece by piece, depending on the information required. The subject matter is diverse, fascinating and informative, presenting clearly each of the Goddess in their full splendour.

For anyone who is interested this aspect of Spirituality, wonders about the reality of such an existence, are intrigued with the mysteries that have grown up around Goddess, consider, in the words of Jane Meredith ‘that these writings can be an entry point, a provocation and a jumping off point for your own exploration’.

  • Athena: The Story of a Goddess

Athena: The Story of a Goddess

Many people have heard of Athena from Greek Mythology and know she is a Goddess, but not many know her life story. This very carefully adapted tale tells of her creation, and some of her more exciting adventures. It shows her place on Mt Olympus and how she relates to her father, Zeus, and her family.

The authors have cleverly chosen to present this book in the style of a Graphic Novel. It has a very attractive hard back cover, and is presented with double page spreads, broken up with pockets of text. There are many small and large illustrations done in the look of block print which is appropriate to the story. The book begins with an introduction to some Gods and Goddesses, some Half Gods, Heroes and Mortals.

We learn that Athena was born from Zeus’s head, and entered the world full sized, with a full suit of armour. Athena soon learnt that doing things in her own way could make the other gods angry, and she very quickly made Poseidon very angry. A large city had just been built and both the gods wanted it to be named after them.

Athena offered the people an olive tree which would always bear fruit, Poseidon offered them water, but it was salty, so the city was named Athens. Poseidon was furious and vowed to have revenge on Athena. This was rather unfortunate for the mortal people who Athena sponsored. However, that’s how the Gods showed their power.

This is a wonderful introduction to Greek Mythology for younger readers. The story tells of Athena’s role in the Trojan War, and how she persuaded the Greeks to choose Odysseus as their leader giving the idea of the Trojan Horse to him, and then watching on as the Greeks overcame Troy. We then follow Odysseus’s journey home.

The design and layout of the pages provide an interesting and captivating addition to the text. The size of the print is very small which could be a deterrent for many. Adults would have to have a good light to read this. I’m sure there will be many other tales that follow and they will always find a new audience to captivate with thee marvellous stories.

  • Turn Yourself On

    Turn Yourself On

There is much discussion and debate about women and empowerment, but there is also much discussion about the best way to claim what is rightfully yours as woman, what is given to you at birth and what, somewhere along the way gets forgotten; self-confidence and self-worth, the belief in yourself that feeling the best, being the best and rejoicing in being a woman is OK.

As you read your way through this course on discovering the ‘Goddess’ within you, or rather re-discovering the Goddess you knew and accepted as a little girl, you will learn much about how you have grown as a woman and how losing this fundamental belief in self has come about.

Marina J is a woman who has walked down the same pathway as you have or are currently walking; she has faced many of the same issues, many of the same fears and doubts that you have or are at the moment. She is woman, who though the good and bad, finally took the time to work out just what was missing in her life and how to go about reclaiming that which was rightfully, by birth, hers, that of the status of Goddess!

Sounds a bit out there; well, perhaps so, but as you take the time to read what can be considered as a training manual to a better understanding of you as a person, you will find yourself nodding, relating, understanding and committing to the many steps along the way. As you do, you will find that many things you thought we impossible to achieve are beginning to fall into place, are beginning to create a happier and better place to be and the people around you are beginning to respond to the person you are now becoming, once again.

Mind you, this journey is not for the fainthearted, but then nothing worthwhile achieving is, so if you are ready to take that very first step towards becoming the Goddess you have always believed you are, but got buried  some here along the way, begin at page one and don’t stop until you get to the other end.

The journey is about acceptance, empowerment, relationships and relating; it is about facing your past, planning your future, facing your fears and accepting your joy and then, about how to not only achieve what you want, but to ensure that your hard won acceptance of your status as Goddess, remains with you for many years to come.

Good luck on your journey as you set out to ‘Turn Yourself On….’ to becoming the woman you have always known was there, just needing to be bought into the light!
