    We Catch the Bus

We Catch the Bus is perfect for the little person who loves anything that has wheels, a bit of a madcap romp and enjoys seeking and finding hidden treasures on the pages of a book. Brightly coloured and full of fun Katie Abey captures the imagination, as well as the many vehicles that come under various categories, and a few other things that simply want to be on the page, as she takes a journey through the world of buses, bikes, cars, trains and vehicles.

Each vehicle takes up interfacing pages filled with wonderful cartoon style drawings, a cast of outrageous characters who love nothing more than to zoom, zoom, zoom across the pages, sometimes even into the next vehicle.

Snake enjoys driving the Double Decker bus, while Shark in her pink Tutu, enjoys the journey. There is even a Lama bus but the Lama does look a bit confused! The Book bus wants to know to know your favourite story.

Pigeons patrol in We Drive Trucks, I wonder why. You need to look carefully to find them though and a rabbit asks what is penguin doing? Sailing boats of course need pirates, a party and a protest boat are all amongst the many on the pages.

Each segment has something for a wide age range which is informative, will create discussion topics and also a huge amount to fun as each of the sections is discovered. Towards the end there are some seriously interesting characters who go to space, in of course a rocket. Perhaps there really is a cow that did jump over the moon?

Hours of reading, seeking and fun have been built into this bright, cheerful book, so what are you waiting for, seek out your favourite pages and get going to wherever it is you choose to go.

Have a great journey, enjoy the fun.

  • Fabio The World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective: Mystery on the Ostrich Express

Fabio The World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective: Mystery on the Ostrich Express

Now,, it is not a far stretch to see the resemblance between a very famous detective, and Fabio, and a certain Oriental journey that was made, in his latest adventure Mystery on the Ostrich Express, but that is about where the resemblance ends, as Fabio is actually going to the seaside on holidays.

He is just sorting out a few last-minute issues that need to be done, when he and Gilbert call in at Mr Alfonso’s jewellery shop to get his watch repaired. Just as they arrive a very elegant Fox is leaving, placing something in her handbag.

It becomes apparent Mr Alfonso, a very elderly tortoise, wishes to speak with them about another matter, other than Fabio’s watch, but time does not permit. Fabio and Gilbert hurry to gather their luggage and board the Ostrich Express, the fastest train in the world, very luxurious and exceptionally comfortable and that is when things begin to go somewhat wrong.

Before long Fabio and Gilbert have been plunged into the very middle of another exciting adventure that will take all of Fabio’s skills and Gilberts incredible talents to solve.

Another rollicking good yarn from the talented Laura James as Fabio and Gilbert do their very best to unmask the bandits and discover what happened to the priceless ruby, stolen on the Ostrich Express.

Perfect for the mid reader who loves a great detective story full of flamboyant, colourful, well Fabio is a flamingo, mystery. There is also sneakily little preview into their next adventure to be found at the end of the book.

Laura James and Emily Fox have once again created a fabulously exciting adventure filled with gasps, derring do and bravery, that somehow always comes out all right in the end, with Fabio and Gilbert enjoying their holiday at the seaside, even thought poor Gilbert ended up with a very broken foot.

  • Fabio The World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective: The Case of the Missing Hippo

Fabio The World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective: The Case of the Missing Hippo

All the other detectives in the world of amazing crime solving stories have to move to one side, sorry, to make way for the latest detective on the patch, Fabio. Now Fabio is no ordinary detective because he is small, slight, pink and enjoys the occasional pink lemonade, of course.

Fabio is  flamingo, who really enjoys crime solving but only when he has to and as all good detectives do, his associate helps him out, whom in this team of crime solving heroes happens to be Gilbert the Giraffe, who a bit like Fabio, has some trouble disguising himself.

Can you all see where this is going, because it is leading to wonderfully funny new mystery series created from the highly imaginative and very funny pen of Laura James, author of the much loved Captain Pug series.

As an introduction to this hilarious pair of crime solvers, Fabio is asked to judge the Hotel Royale’s talent contest located in his home town of  Lake Laloozee’s. All is going well until Julia the jazz-singing hippopotamus goes missing. What can possibly have happened to this popular contestant?

Fabio needs to put his crime thinking cap on and try to solve the problem and that is when things really begins to get interesting, as they do with all crime mysteries,  because as in all cases of mystery and crime nothing is as it seems and the cast of suspects gets bigger and bigger.

But as Fabio is considered as the world’s greatest Flamingo Detective solving this little crime should not take too long.

Somewhat reminiscent of the other ‘world’s greatest detective Hercules Poirot’, Fabio and his friends will have their new fans, young and old, in stiches, as they do eventually manage to solve ‘The Case of the Missing Hippo’!

A hugely fun read for young readers, with some great cartoon style illustrations from Emily Fox to add a certain panache to the case.
